Taiwan-Europe Trade Matchmaking Association

To support the government's ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral trade exchanges with the European Union, the Ministry of Economic Affairs' Bureau of Foreign Trade has entrusted the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) to execute the "2012 Taiwan-EU Trade Procurement Matchmaking Conference." This event will take place at the Taipei International Convention Center on the 24th. Seventy-nine buyers from 17 countries have been invited to Taiwan for procurement purposes, and domestic businesses are welcome to register on-site.

The purchasing delegation includes numerous well-known EU companies, with 23 large buyers having an annual turnover exceeding 100 million USD, including 7 with turnovers surpassing 500 million USD. The procurement items encompass hardware, electrical and power equipment, machinery, medical devices, electronic components, information and communication technology, construction materials, food, sports goods, textiles, and apparel. It is anticipated that this event will boost Taiwan's exports to the EU market this year.

Currently, 372 Taiwanese companies have registered for 701 one-on-one negotiation sessions. Among them are renowned enterprises such as TSMC, Tatung, Delta Electronics, Chunghwa Telecom, Wistron, Acer, Lenovo, Delta Imaging, Test Research Inc. (TRI), Far Eastern New Century, Uni-President, SynCore Biotechnology, Eclat Textile, and Cheng Kuang Pharmaceutical.

This Taiwan-EU Trade Procurement Matchmaking Conference marks the first time that EU sellers have been invited to Taiwan for market expansion. EU units stationed in Taiwan have been invited to collaborate and extend invitations. A total of 7 EU sellers from 5 countries, including France, the UK, Spain, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic, have been invited. This demonstrates Taiwan's intention to promote bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Taiwan and the EU, signifying great symbolic importance.
