The 12th Zhongxiao Lions Club Marathon
The "2015 Keelung Mayor's Cup and Chung-Kuo Lion Club Ji Fu Marathon" kicked off with great excitement on the morning of the 20th. A total of 2100 marathon enthusiasts from Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, the United States, and all over Taiwan gathered at the Warm-up Sports Park. After Mayor Lin Cheng-Kuang and Speaker Song Wei-Li fired the starting shot, they embarked on a shared sports feast.
Mayor Lin Cheng-Kuang stated that the event, originally named the "Chung-Kuo Lion Cup Wufenshan Marathon," is now in its 12th year. He expressed gratitude for the efforts of the organizing committee, the "Chung-Kuo Lion Club," over the past 12 years. The event was renamed the "Keelung Mayor's Cup and Chung-Kuo Lion Club Ji Fu Marathon," making it a well-known sports event in Keelung. The event was held at the front end of Ji Fu Road, which took on special significance as it approached its one-year anniversary of being opened to traffic.
What's particularly noteworthy is that this historically significant sporting event featured six runners aged 70 and above. The organizers specially presented them with a gift set of Cheng-Kuang herbal massage cream, wishing the grandpas and grandmas to stay active while not forgetting to take care of themselves and stay in good health.
